    About Meaghan the tutor

    My Background

    I am a certified English and Journalism teacher whose goal is to help students understand key concepts, teach skills to help improve academic performance  and provide feedback on progress towards learning goals in the areas of reading and writing. I am extremely passionate about education and helping students succeed in the area of English. 


    I want to help my students become confident readers and writers, while working to improve their test scores and overall skills. I aim to cultivate a love for reading and writing in my students while providing the supplemental skills they need to achieve excellence in the areas of English language arts and communication skills. Through my 10+ years of experience as a certified English educator, teaching a myriad of classes, I have the utmost confidence that I can help your student achieve their educational goals. 

    My Expertise

    I specialize in English tutoring, which encompasses reading and reading comprehension, writing and grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. I am skilled in various types of writing including but not limited to, expository, argumentative, narrative, persuasive and creative. 

    Services Offered

    I provide private tutoring lessons specializing in English for students in grades kindergarten through college. I also offer ACT  prep tutoring, ACT prep courses for individuals and groups, college essay writing assistance and editing, essay proofreading and editing, vocabulary and spelling practice, and homework help. I offer tutoring sessions in person locally at the  

    Eureka Hills Branch Library in Eureka, Missouri as well as virtually, via Zoom and Google Meets.

    Meet Meaghan

    Meaghan Reitz

    I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and live with my husband and our two, sweet rescue dogs in St. Louis County in Eureka.  I am a certified English and Journalism teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience in grades 9-12.  I have a bachelor's degree in English, a master's degree in Secondary Education Curriculum and Instruction, and an additional master's degree in Special Reading Certification for grades K-12.  I have an affinity for reading, writing, and everything outdoors. In my spare time, I love to read, take my dogs on hikes and try new restaurants!

    Private Tutoring

    In-person or virtual English tutoring sessions

    One Hour Session

    Can be a combination session for reading and writing tutoring, or can be used solely for reading tutoring or writing tutoring.

    30 Minute Session

    Typically focuses on either reading OR writing during the session, but will be tailored to meet your student's needs. 

    ACT Prep Tutoring

    In-person or virtual ACT Prep tutoring sessions for English, writing and whole test taking strategies

    One Hour Session

    $100

    ACT Prep Course

    A four week online course presented in the flipped classroom format. Students will be given weekly video lessons to watch and work through, to be discussed during our weekly meeting.

    Per Student

    $300

    Includes a weekly video lesson and a one hour  virtual meeting, once a week for four weeks to answer questions, cover test taking strategies, and work through the ACT framework and example questions. Practice assignments and homework will be given during the course. 

    College Admissions Essay Writing and/or Editing

    Essays and communication will be completed via email for this service

    Essays will be sent via email and reviewed/edited in this manner for this service
